Magnetic tape such as VHS or Hi8 is demagnetizing creating snow and static garbled images. These formats were not built to stand the test of time, or at least, are now being proven to not last as long as we were initially told when they were first introduced.

Don’t Be Fooled Into A False Sense Of Security
We are not just a “film transfer mill”. We do offer transfers of your media strictly to a viewable DVD disc, just like “film transfer mills” do, however, we also prefer and encourage you to take additional steps for proper preservation ! We provide much better ways to actually preserve your family’s memories in format’s that are longer lasting and work with the trends of future technology.
DVD’s and Blu-ray disc’s are currently a convenient way to view and enjoy your family’s footage. However, simply put, by only transferring your material to DVD is not enough ! DVD’s and Blu-ray disc’s can be easily damaged/scratched with improper care and handling. More importantly, in order to format your memories into this as a viewable format also requires compression, which in layman’s terms means, your footage is being squished in order to fit into the limitations of the DVD format. This compression actually erases much of the quality from the initial capture we get from your source material.
Even though viewable DVD and Blu-ray disc’s are currently convenient for enjoying your memories today, they are already the VHS of yesterday. The whole purpose of transferring and preserving these memories is so future generations can see and enjoy it at a high quality. So as well as providing the convenience of DVD or Blu-ray for convenient viewing, we offer copies of your footage in additional storage formats that better preserve the quality of the original. Format’s that can be further used by your family’s younger generations to easily work with (such as editing or compressing to share on U-tube, iPhone etc.) and further preserve in technological media formats of the future.
